ABOUT US

Bucknell P3 (Parish Path Partnership) Group was formed in December 2006 (local Coordinator: Mike Starr (01547 530179)

A P3 Group consists of local volunteers who liaise with Shropshire Council to help improve the condition of Countrywide Access and Rights of Way in their area.

Bucknell and Bedstone parish was designated an “Action Area” for 2007-8 (along with Stowe, Hopton Castle and Clungunford). During this period the Council improved the condition and accessibility of the Rights of Way in these parishes which entailed renewing or refurbishing stiles, gates, sign posts etc.

When this was completed, the P3 Group monitored the paths and assisted in their maintenance where feasible. This could include removing undergrowth, repairing stiles etc. The Council runs courses and provide the necessary tools.

At present the group comprises 7 volunteers. Anyone who has an interest in our local Rights of Way and wishes to join the group should contact Mike Starr.

Alternatively, if anyone simply has any comments to make about the condition of the paths in the parish and surrounding area, then please let Mike Starr know.

Second Working Party - Upper Lye

Once again Mike Starr had discovered an area of overgrown footpath near Upper Lye off the Chapel Lawn Road. So on a warm summer's afternoon Mike, Beryl Geri and Graham set off for Upper Lye to tackle the problem armed with bow saws. shears and the all important brush cutter where a particularly overgrown path had thwarted walkers in the past.

We were soon into things as Mike cut a swathe through the thickly overgrown path like a whirling Dervish weilding the brushcutter kindly loaded by the Clun P3 group.

The weather was quite hot and the flies innumerable, but we got the job done in a few hours.
